Our theme is to find the treasure map and clues that lead to our treasure and if we find it then we'll celebrate and have pirate cake for all!
Our Pirate Camp if full of fun and adventure. Our indoor facility at the Marina Village is made to look like a pirate hideout and island with tropical trees and huts, plus it looks onto the bay. We have a park like setting next door for outdoor pirate activities and lunch. Some activities include pirate songs and legends with pirates, learning pirate lingo, how to read a treasure map, sword play with pirates (safe foam swords), playing pirate games such as Dread Pirate and Pirate Cove. Arts and crafts activities can include some of the following: making a take-home model ship (different types depending on age and duration of camp), a parrot glider, flags, stickers, little pirate men or mermaids, pirate cookies, or chocolate ships for our pirate party, plus much more. Each week is different with different activities, some more complicated projects such as the larger model ship require both weeks to finish.
Excursions will be based on the Adventure chosen
Excursions
During Pirate Day Camp there will be 2 excursions. After signing up for camp, parents and campers will received detailed information regarding dates, times and locations of the excursions. Transportation will be provided by a local charter service licensed and insured to transport with a shuttle bus for the first excursion. Parents will receive all the details in advance.
First Excursion: Set Sail on a real Pirate Ship
Little pirates will get to experience the adventure of a real pirate as they set sail on their pirate ship. We have chartered a tall ship through the Maritime museum, that will set sail in the San Diego Harbor (manned, of course, by experienced Maritime museum pirate staff). The trip will last about three hours, however we will be there most of the day. The campers will get to participate in some fun pirate activities as they explore the ships and the pirate exhibit at the Maritime Museum. Transportation is provided for this excursion.
Second Excursion: Pirate Treasure Hunt
Our second excursion will be to "Pirate Cove" at the San Diego Presidio park. We will unfurl our pirate flag, and using Red Beard’s old pirate map, we'll set off to look for treasure. If we are lucky we might some. However, we might have to battle some pirates along the way. It is sure to be an unforgettable adventure.
Excursion tickets are already included in the price of camp.
Our pirates are members of the Maritime Museum, college drama students, and professional pirate actors. Our campers will be with and staff at all times.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints we will not be making the pirate book, we added other activities instead.
